Legendary investor Warren Buffett this week donated another $3.5 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and distributed thousands more to 4 foundations linked to his household.
This brings the total amount that the Oracle of Omaha has given to philanthropic organizations, primarily the Gates Foundation, since 2006 to over $50 billion.
The donations were made by transferring thousands and thousands of shares of his financing firm, Berkshire Hathaway.
The most recent donation of 10.45 million Class B shares to the account and the Melinda Gates Foundation was $3.5 billion.
Four different foundations linked to the Buffett household additionally acquired more than 3.2 million shares, bringing the annual charitable stock payout to 13.69 million shares over the 12 months, the company disclosed. in a press release.

Berkshire said 1.05 million shares have been donated to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, which helps reproductive welfare and is known as Buffett’s late spouse.
The Sherwood Foundation, which assists Nebraska nonprofits; the Howard G. Buffett Foundation, which focuses on fighting hunger, reducing conflict and improving public safety; and the NoVo Foundation, which focuses on good causes for women and girls, received a full two.2 million.
Buffett confirmed that regardless of accumulating such large donations, he will direct most of his wealth to philanthropic causes after his death.
“Nothing extraordinary has happened in Berkshire; a very long runway, simple and generally good decisions, American wind and composites have created my current wealth, he wrote in a press release.
“My will stipulates that over 99% of my estate is for philanthropic use.”
Buffett has been a trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation since 2006 and has helped to inspire imaginative, original and impressive methods to address some of the world’s most pressing crises.
“The impact of (Warren’s) miraculous generosity is hard to quantify,” said Mark Suzman, executive director of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
“It’s even harder to quantify how his values have permeated the foundation’s culture.”
Buffett confirmed that regardless of accumulating such large donations, he will bequeath the majority of his wealth to philanthropic causes upon his death.
