Tim Keller Children: Meet His 3 Children: Born on September 23, 1950, Tim Keller, officially known as Timothy James Keller was an American pastor, theologian, and Christian apologist.
Growing up, he attended the Lutheran Church in America but became a Christian while at Bucknell University.
Keller became a Christian due to the ministry of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship where he later served as a staff member with InterVarsity.
Along the line, he was ordained by the Presbyterian Church in America and served as a pastor at West Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Hopewell.
Later, Keller was recruited by his denomination to start Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan after two others had turned down the position.
He launched a church planting network, cofounded The Gospel Coalition, and wrote multiple best-selling books about God, the gospel, and the Christian life.
Keller established a theologically orthodox church in Manhattan that attracted thousands of young professional followers.
He ministered to these young professionals and in the process became a leading example of how a winsome Christian witness could win a hearing for the gospel even in unlikely places.
In 2020, Keller revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and has since then undergone two years of chemotherapy.
He was also participating in the immunotherapy drug trial at the National Institute for Health in Bethesda, Maryland as recently as January 2023.
Despite the immunotherapy successfully killing 99% of the cancerous tumors, Keller in a post in March 2023 announce the return of additional cancerous tumors which required him to undergo another treatment process.
In April 2023, Tim Keller shared he was recovering from the treatments, and it would be a “long and slow process back.”
On Friday, May 18, 2023, his son, Michael Keller shared an update on his father’s health status in a statement on his father’s Twitter page.
Tim Keller has been placed on hospice care at his home following an ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer.
“Today, Dad is being discharged from the hospital to receive hospice care at home. Over the past few days, he has asked us to pray with him often. He expressed many times through prayer his desire to go home to be with Jesus,”
“His family is very sad because we all wanted more time, but we know he has very little at this point.
In prayer, he said two nights ago, “I’m thankful for all the people who’ve prayed for me over the years. I’m thankful for my family, that loves me. I’m thankful for the time God has given me, but I’m ready to see Jesus,” he prayed, according to the family update. “I can’t wait to see Jesus. Send me home.”
Sadly the pioneering Manhattan evangelist has died. Tim Keller passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, May 19, 2023, at his home in Manhattan.
He died a few hours after his son, Michael Keller updated the general public about his health on Thursday, May 18. Announcing the demise of his father, he wrote;
“Timothy J. Keller, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, friend, pastor, and scholar died this morning at home. Dad waited until he was alone with Mom. She kissed him on the forehead and he breathed his last breath. We take comfort in some of his last words…”
At the time of this report, the family was planning her final funeral arrangement and the details are yet to be finalized. We will keep you updated.
