The Incident

Following a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer carrying excessive cargo, U.S. Route 36 was closed in both directions near the scene of a fatal crash. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department reports the accident happened on U.S. Route 36, just east of the intersection with State Route 75 around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday. According to initial findings from an investigation by the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department, a blue Chevrolet pickup was traveling westbound on US 36 when it crossed the center line for now unknown reasons and entered collided with a semi-trailer.

The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. There was also a passenger in the van who was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The driver of the semi-trailer emerged unscathed from this incident. During the investigation, it is expected that the roadway will be blocked for a considerable time.
