No candidates on ballot for two seats on Androscoggin County Commission

May 3—AUBURN — Two of the three seats on the Androscoggin County Commission up for election this yr may have no candidates on the first ballot in June.

Republican Terri Kelly of Mechanic Falls and Democrat Edouard Plourde of Lewiston are stepping down.

No one has stepped as much as exchange them and the deadline to get on the ballot has handed. No official write-in candidate has but to register with the Maine Secretary of State’s workplace.

Kelly is finishing her second time period representing District 6, which incorporates Mechanic Falls, Poland and the outer portion of Auburn that borders Durham, Poland, Minot and Turner. Kelly, who couldn’t be reached for remark, is vice chairman of the fee.

Plourde, who was appointed to the board in 2021 following the resignation of Noel Madore, gained a 2022 race towards Bret Martel to complete the ultimate two years of Madore’s four-year time period. Plourde, a former Lewiston metropolis councilor, stated it is time to step away. He represents District 1, which incorporates downtown Lewiston and a part of the town between Webster Street and Lisbon Street so far as Alfred Plourde Parkway.

The third fee seat up for election is District 4, which incorporates Lisbon, Sabattus and Wales. Republican Garret Mason of Lisbon is operating for reelection. A former majority chief within the Maine State Senate, he was appointed to his seat in early in 2022 and defeated Greg Bianconi in November 2022 to finish the ultimate two years of the time period.

Mason is operating unopposed within the June Republican main and has no Democrat or Independent challenger for November.

The different members of the board embrace Chairman Sally Christner of Turner, Brian Ames and Roland Poirier, each of Lewiston, and Andrew Lewis of Auburn. They shall be up for election in 2026.
