According to the sheriff’s office, Mallett got into the water and was not breathing when rescuers pulled him out. The former footballer is said to have breathed his last in a nearby hospital.

Ryan Mallett’s career explored

Before being selected by the New England Patriots in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Mallett was a star for the Arkansas Razorbacks, where he finished his college career.

Ryan Mallett played in the NFL for seven seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans and Patriots.

According to the NFL, Mallett appeared in 21 games, started five of them, and finished with a 3-5 record, 1,835 passing yards, nine touchdowns and ten interceptions. In 2017, he retired.

The New England Patriots expressed their sorrow over the unexpected passing of their former player through a tweet.

After ending his playing career, the Destin native became a football coach. He was assistant coach of White Hall HS (AR) from 2020 to 2021.

Subsequently, Mallett was promoted to head coach of the same high school in 2022. Ryan was in that position at the time of his death. According to CNNhe was also a teacher of physical education and health.

White Hall School District staff wrote on their website, “It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Coach Ryan Mallett.

“Coach Mallett was a highly regarded educator and coach. We ask that you keep his family, team, students, fellow coaches and White Hall School District staff in your prayers,” the organization added.
