Moha participates in regional steel bridge event

KLAMATH FALLS — As a part of the American Society of Civil Engineers and American Institute of Steel Construction, college students from the Oregon Institute of Technology’s civil engineering program, together with senior Serena Moha, of Warrenton, participated in the Pacific Northwest Student Steel Bridge Competition held April 6 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Moha was one of many steel bridge captains.

The competitors challenged college students, who had been timed, to design, fabricate and assemble a structurally environment friendly 20-foot-long steel bridge to securely help 2,500 kilos. The bridges are additionally load-tested, weighed and judged on aesthetics. Oregon Tech positioned ninth out of 12 groups.
