Man United are ‘unhappy’ with Chelsea over Mason Mount talks

Manchester United are reportedly furious over Chelsea’s talks for Mason Mount, with the Blues leaking details of the failed bids to the media.

The Red Devils saw the Blues reject a third bid of £55m on Friday after saying it could be their final bid for Mount.

However, Erik ten Hag’s side are expected to continue talks as Chelsea have secured a face-to-face meeting to discuss the deal.

As reported Manchester Evening NewsUnited are “frustrated” with Chelsea, with director of football John Murtough reportedly fuming when the Blues floated United’s bids through loyal London correspondents.

Leaking this information to the media has hurt the Red Devils, who also think Chelsea are “overvaluing” Mount.

Mason Mount has been one of Manchester United’s main targets in midfield this summer

Mount may be the most popular alternative to Erik ten Hag, but there are a variety of choices

However, the report says that with his contract expiring next year and his desire to leave, United do not agree with Chelsea’s assessment.

Also, Mount is Ten Hag’s most popular choice, yet United have at least 4 different midfield options that can be considered ‘acceptable’ if they can’t put Mount inside.

They are understood to have completed a ‘long list of post-job targets’ in April and the manager has already held digital conferences with potential targets.

Although Chelsea immediately responded with a £58m plus £7m deal, it remains to be seen whether the Manchester club are willing to live up to that valuation.

Talks are expected to continue as the Blues have secured a £65m bid for the Cobham graduate.
