Is Scoop season 2 renewed?

Hansal Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul are the creators and directors of Scoop, an Indian streaming drama television series which will be available on Netflix in 2023. It features Tanishtha Chatterjee, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Harman Baweja and Deven Bhojani in the key roles . Under the name Matchbox Shots, Sarita Patil and Dikssha Jyote Routray are in charge of producing the show. Netflix began streaming it on June 2, 2023. Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison, written by Jigna Vora, serves as the basis for the television series. It is based on the true story of Jigna Vora, who in June 2011 was accused of killing midday reporter Jyotirmoy Dey.

As of this writing, Scoop has not received an official renewal from Netflix. However, it seems obvious that the series will have multiple seasons, with each season focusing on a different true crime. Because of the adaptability of this format, showrunners can drop Jigna Vora’s storyline while maintaining brand appeal. And given that the trailer for the first season has already received 39 million views, it’s obvious the brand will have lasting appeal. Of course, Netflix will consider the popularity of the first season. They’ll be monitoring how many people finish watching it, so it’ll be useful to watch lists like Netflix’s Top 10.

Even without an official announcement, if Scoop enters the non-English speaking TV rankings, it’s a very strong indication that a second season will be produced. Of course, it’s possible that the focus on marketing hasn’t resulted in a boost in viewership, but even then, Netflix might decide to bet on a second season. Since every potential true crime season is unique and only one tale can truly capture the audience’s attention, the success of season 1 does not guarantee the success of season 2.
