Gladys Berejiklian and a lawyer friend go for a morning walk while ICAC prepares a useful report

Gladys Berejiklian has been spotted on a relaxing espresso date with her lawyer boyfriend Arthur Moses as she prepares a corruption watchdog report into her conduct as NSW Premier.

Ms Berjeklian confirmed there were no signs of stress before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) released its findings on Thursday. Ms Berjeklian donned sportswear, while the loved-up couple held hands as they walked.

Mr Moses also has a burden placed on his shoulders as he was part of combat veteran Ben Roberts-Smith’s empowered staff that botched the “trial of the century” earlier this month.

But her date with the future seemed far from Ms Berejiklian’s mind as she was pictured touching up her make-up at a cafe table in Sydney on Saturday.

Her date with the ICAC party appeared to be out of Ms Berejiklian’s mind as she was pictured touching up her make-up at a restaurant table.

The pair wore matching navy hats and designer sunglasses, with Mr Moses wearing a black jacket and Ms Berejiklian wearing a white one.

As the temperature rose, Ms. Berejiklian removed her jacket to reveal an elegant wine underneath.

In addition, the pair wore activewear trousers – gray for Mr Moses and black for the former prime minister – and each wore trainers, blue for him and black for him.

At one level, sitting in a cafe on Sydney’s leafy north shore, Mr Moses reached out to the couple’s meals while Ms Berejiklian checked her phone.

The investigation into Ms Berejiklian’s dealings began after ICAC opened an investigation into former Wagga Wagga Liberal MP Daryl Maguire.

The watchdog was investigating whether Mr Maguire used his position as an MP for financial gain and whether Ms Berejiklian betrayed the public’s trust during their five-year secret private relationship.

The long-delayed final report is likely to be tabled in the NSW parliament on Thursday, almost two years after Berejiklian stepped down as premier.

The Operation Keppel report is likely to go to Speakers of Parliament at 9am and is likely to be made available to the wider public when officers release it.

Toll revealed in January that the report would not be released before the March election because it covered complex authorized points and 1,000 pages of evidence, transcripts and submissions.

“The committee remains conscious of its obligation to submit a report as soon as possible after it has concluded its engagement with the case and continues to expect that the report will be ready for submission during this quarter,” it said. representative at the time.

The report is likely to come almost 21 months after Berejiklian stepped down as prime minister in October 2021 and almost three years after she first provided evidence of her secret affair with Mr Maguire.

The investigation hinges on whether or not Ms Berejiklian’s concealment of her relationship with Mr Maguire exposed public confidence, whether she mishandled Mr Maguire’s initiatives and whether or not she engaged in activities that he “might have authorized or encouraged. corruption”.

Ms Berejiklian has denied any wrongdoing, citing concerns over the alleged lengthy delay in submitting the ICAC report as the reason for her resignation.

The guide disclosed last August that Ms. Berejiklian “held a torch” for Ms. Moses several years earlier than they got together.

“Gladys has always been kind to Arthur,” said one senior Liberal.

In her guide, The Secret, to the rise and spectacular fall of the previous NSW premier, journalist Alexandra Smith said some former staff described working for Berejiklian as working for the Queen.

“Berejiklian walked past them to his office; they dare not speak to him,” Smith wrote.

The NSW corruption watchdog’s overdue report into the conduct of Gladys Berejiklian must be delivered quickly, more than a year and a half after the previous premier resigned pending its findings.

The investigation into Ms Berejiklian’s dealings came after the Independent Commission Against Corruption launched an investigation into former Wagga Wagga Liberal MP Daryl Maguire.

The watchdog was investigating whether Mr Maguire used his position as an MP for financial gain and whether Ms Berejiklian betrayed the public’s trust during their five-year secret private relationship.

The investigation will determine whether Ms. Berejiklian:

1. Between 2012 and 2018, was involved in activities likely to “enable or encourage corrupt behaviour” by former Liberal MP Daryl Maguire, with whom she had a detailed private relationship between 2015 and 2018.

2. Dishonest or partial use of his official capacity in refusing to exercise his duty to report reasonable suspicion of Mr Maguire to ICAC.

3. Has made one of her official appearances, citing in part two multi-million dollar grants to Mr Maguire’s constituents, the Australian Clay Target Association Inc and the Riverina Conservatorium of Music.
