Florida State: 2023 indoor volleyball schedule released
TALLAHASSEE ~ The 2023 indoor volleyball team schedule for the Florida State Seminoles has been released, and it features 14 home games at Tully Gym against high profile opponents including Florida, Miami, Pittsburgh and North Carolina. Head coach Chris Poole recently expressed his team’s excitement for the upcoming season. Due to injuries and absences, we struggled to find our rhythm all last season. We have a strong core of returnees and new additions that give us depth. The schedule offers us a wealth of matches, including a number of home games. This fall, we will have to face our guys against some tough opponents to help them grow as individuals and as a unit. We are ready to take up the challenge.
Junior Libero Emery Dupes, junior outside hitter Audrey Koenig, junior middle tackle Khori Louis and sophomore outside hitter Audrey Rothman all earned All-ACC honors last season and return this year to lead the Seminoles. Kiari Robey, a junior middle tackle who led the team with 156 kills and 107 blocks last season, traded to the Oregon team this offseason and is one of the most important newcomers. Florida State opens the 2023 season on the road against West Carolina (August 25), Georgia (August 26) and UConn (August 27) at Georgia’s home tournament in Athens, Utah. Georgia. FSU will host SMU on Friday, September 1 and Auburn on Sunday, September 3 for the return of the Seminole Invitational to Tallahassee. On September 4, FSU will face Samford in Birmingham, Alabama. The next step in the non-conference program is an appearance in a tournament hosted by Big 12 newcomer UCF on Sept. 7 in Orlando. On September 8, FSU will also face North Texas in Orlando.
On September 12, Tully Gym will host the 77th annual Fresh From Florida Sunshine Showdown between Florida and Florida State. The preseason portion of the Seminoles’ schedule concludes Sept. 15-16, when they face TCU (Sept. 15) and Hawaii (Sept. 16) in a tournament hosted by TCU in Dallas, Texas. After playing in North Florida on September 19, FSU will host Chicago State on November 17. As one of the top volleyball conferences in the nation, the ACC presents several formidable opponents next season. On Friday, Nov. 3, national semifinalist Pitt travels to FSU and on Sunday, Nov. 12, local rival Miami travels to Tallahassee. North Carolina (Sept. 29), Duke (Oct. 1), NC State (Oct. 8), Boston College (Oct. 20), Syracuse (Oct. 22), Virginia (Nov. 5), and Notre Dame (Nov. 25) are all on the home conference schedule. Virginia Tech (September 22), Wake Forest (September 24), Miami (October 4), Georgia Tech (October 13), Clemson (October 15), National Finalist Louisville (October 27), Notre Dame (October 29), Syracuse ( Nov. 10) and North Carolina (Nov. 19) are just a few of the tough conference opponents FSU will face on the road. Details on this year’s Garnet and Gold Scrimmage between Florida State and Miami will be released closer to the event date of Saturday, August 19.
