Family of late actor Julian Sands make first statement since vanishing while hiking
Five months have passed since actor Julian Sands was last seen hiking in California, and his family has finally released a statement. According to the statement, “We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with fond memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and an original and collaborative performer.”
British-born actor Sands, who is now 65 and best known for his role in the 1985 film ‘A Room With a View’, has been married to journalist Evgenia Citkowitz for more than three decades, and the couple has three children who have reached adulthood. They expressed their “extremely sincere gratitude to the search teams and coordinators who worked tirelessly to locate Julian”. Authorities say the ninth planned search for Sands that has been conducted since her June 17 disappearance on Mount Baldy in Southern California has been futile. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, on the other hand, said the investigation is still ongoing.

Sands, a longtime ardent hiker and mountaineer, was reported missing on January 13 after hiking the big mountain, which rises more than 10,000 feet (3,048 meters) east of Los Angeles and was hit by heavy storms during the winter. Sands was reported missing after undertaking a hike up the massive mountain. Authorities said that although recent searches have been aided by the warmer weather, several areas of the mountain remain inaccessible due to the dangerous conditions.
