Ex-Lake Alfred city commissioner, 90, accused of possessing child pornography

A former Lake Alfred city commissioner was arrested earlier this month for child pornography possession, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office mentioned Wednesday.


The Sheriff’s Office mentioned he was initially arrested April 18, and a further 2,896 counts of enhanced possession of child pornography had been filed in opposition to him Tuesday.

Investigators mentioned they found graphic materials of kids between the ages of six months to 12 years outdated.

Charles Lake, 90, now faces a mixed 3,196 felony fees, the Sheriff’s Office mentioned.

Deputies mentioned that following Lake’s arrest, forensic technicians examined all of his digital storage units, which had been seized as proof.

Detectives mentioned they found that Lake had a “compartmentalized” system that organized and categorized the hundreds of graphic photos and movies.

“Charles Lake is a public official with a dark, twisted involvement with the exploitative child pornography trade,” Sheriff Grady Judd mentioned in a ready assertion Tuesday. “In the past, he has done photography for the city and local schools and has assisted people with their computers.”
