Erik Faulhaber Cleveland OH Death: George Washington Carver School Teacher took his own life after jumping at Valley View Bridge

The entire community of George Washington Carver Elementary mourns the tragic death of their beloved teacher and coach who passed away Monday. Erik James Faulhaber, 30, died of an apparent suicide at the Valley View Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio. The incident happened on I-480, according to reports, multiple Cleveland Police Department officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a suicidal person attempting to take their own life by jumping.

Officers who arrived located the man who, upon seeing officers, warned that if anyone tried to get close to him they would jump, a bystander said. Law enforcement tried to dissuade him from the disastrous attempt, but the elementary school teacher eventually jumped off the bridge. He was located on the ground in a drainage ditch under the IR-480 bridge near Canal Road, according to the Cleveland Ohio Remembrance Page, and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to reports, this is the third suicide incident to occur at 4,150 feet long nearly 200 feet above the Cuyahoga River Valley Bridge.

According to the allegations, the man was a father and teacher at George Washington Carver Elementary School located at 2200 E 55th St, Cleveland, OH. He was affectionately referred to as Mr. Haber by his students and co-teachers. The reason for this fatal incident is not known at this time. The entire school community is now sending multiple messages of condolences and tributes to the family. The incident happened in broad daylight. The George Washington Carver School has not released any official statement following the incident at this time.
