Dahrran Diedrick Death and Obituary, Cause of Death, Funeral – Former Canadian professional footballer Dahrran Diedrick, a former running back for Washington, has died at the age of 44 after battling cancer. The Montreal Alouettes, with whom he won two Gray Cups in the CFL, made the announcement of his death in his family.
He grew up in Toronto and was born in Jamaica. He went to the University of Nebraska, where he was a standout running back for the Cornhuskers. He was the first Canadian student-athlete to receive a scholarship under the program. After finishing his college career, he was first picked for the San Diego Chargers practice squad in 2003 before being signed by the Green Bay Packers the following year.

But he only appeared in one NFL regular season game while a member of Team Washington, where he appeared. He crossed the border in 2005 and joined the Canadian Football League (CFL), where he enjoyed notable success, winning three Gray Cup titles.

Dahrran Diedrick joined the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL after leaving Washington. He won his first Gray Cup while playing for them in 2005. He was only a minor player at the time, however, and was fired in 2006. He then joined the Montreal Alouettes, which they had defeated in the title match. .
He stayed with them until 2013 when he experienced the highest degree of consistency in success. He won the Gray Cup twice more in 2009 and 2010 during this time. He played with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013 before returning to Montreal for a final season in 2014. In 130 CFL regular season games, Dahrran Diedrick rushed the ball 179 times for 872 yards and six touchdowns.
He experienced his first health problem at this time. His liver and spleen were found to have T-cell lymphoma. He was found to have an enlarged spleen in 2015. He had to undergo several rounds of chemotherapy to get better. The only known treatment for the disease he was diagnosed with is a stem cell transplant. Fortunately for him, Dominique was able to serve as a donor.
His initial therapy was effective, and in 2017 he finally felt well enough to play again. This season he worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the Toronto Argonauts.
In the long term, however, it was unable to prevent health problems caused by cancer. On June 24, 2023, he died at Toronto General Hospital.
