Contractor Egan to build facility in Kasson to expand its footprint in Southern Minnesota

May 3—KASSON — Twin Cities-based Egan Co. will quickly break floor on a 40,000-square-foot prefabrication facility in Kasson to assist its space electrical contracting operations.

Egan is planning a groundbreaking ceremony in Kasson at 500 Ninth St. SE on May 13.

The new prefabrication and warehouse advanced can be situated outdoors of Kasson by

507 F.A.S.T. — Fitness and Strength Training.

That is south of Highway 14 and east of the south Kasson Kwik Trip station.

The hope is to have the facility, which is able to prefabricate electrical elements and assemblies used in Egan contracting tasks, accomplished and prepared to be used by January.

“Kasson’s location provides an ideal hub for our expansion. Many of Egan’s current team members call Kasson and the surrounding communities home, bringing a deep understanding and knowledge of the area to Egan,” said Egan Vice President of Electrical Engineering Brian Harren in the announcement of the challenge. “As Egan grows, we’re looking forward to creating new job opportunities for the area.”

Once this facility is up and operating, 20 Egan workers will switch from the Rochester workplace at 4475 Highway 14 West to the Kasson prefabrication facility. About 12 workers will stay based mostly in Rochester.

Egan entered the Rochester market in 2002, when

it acquired Nietz Electric as a subsidiary.

Nietz, which was based in Rochester by Emil Nietz in 1936, retained the household underneath the umbrella of the Egan model. That modified in 2017, when the Rochester web site shed the Nietz title.

Egan made an identical transfer in Austin in 2015, when

it acquired Kestner Electric

to increase its presence in southern Minnesota.
