Who is Deon Derrico?

Born September 16, 1983, Deon Derrico grew up in urban Detroit, Michigan as the youngest child of Eddie and Marian Derrico. While her father owned a construction company and lived in Detroit, her mother owned a hair salon in Las Vegas, Nevada. Deon was primarily raised by his grandmother in Detroit, who played an important role in his upbringing.

He attended Detroit public schools, including Cooley High School, and studied acting throughout his school years. Deon’s good looks earned him the lead at Not Another Gospel Play in Detroit. He later became a hairstylist and salon owner and owned other small businesses to support his acting career.

In 2002 he married Karen Carter-Derrico and they named their two-year-old daughter Darian after Deon’s mother. Karen operates a daycare center in Las Vegas named after their daughter, and they also have an adopted son, Derron Derrico, who is now 17. Currently residing in Hollywood, California, Deon formed Deon Derrico Entertainment, Inc. shortly after arriving and landed her first film role. The company offers acting lessons, represents talent, and produces film and television programs.
