After 2 mistrials, jury finds Dayton man guilty in 20-year-old child sex case

May 2—A Dayton man was convicted Wednesday after two mistrials for sexually assaulting three ladies greater than 20 years in the past.

Mack Deveron Perry, 49, was not current in (*2*) County Common Pleas Court when a jury round 1:30 p.m. returned guilty verdicts for rape, eight counts of gross sexual imposition and 5 counts of disseminating matter dangerous to juveniles, all involving ladies youthful than 13.

Perry complained of chest pains and was taken to a neighborhood hospital, in keeping with the (*2*) County Prosecutor’s Office. He was not believed to have been admitted as a result of he’s in custody in the (*2*) County Jail awaiting sentencing on May 21.

Perry beforehand complained of chest pains and was taken to the hospital on the day of jury choice for his first two trials in February and April 1, which led Judge Kimberly Melnick to declare mistrials.

The case towards him was investigated by the Dayton Police Department and concerned delayed reporting of sexual assaults of three ladies recognized to him — who have been 27, 28, and 29 on the time he was indicted in January 2023 — that occurred between 2000 and 2003, the prosecutor’s workplace stated.
