A United Airlines pilot fulfills a lifelong dream of flying with his mom

A United Airlines pilot made a heartfelt announcement earlier than piloting a flight with her mom on her mission of a lifetime.

Brooke Patterson Van Howe held a microphone as she stood outside United Airlines Terminal Gate 76A and informed passengers that she could be their first officer to bring them to Newark this afternoon.

“Today we have a very special flight, perhaps the most special of my aviation career,” Van Hove said in a statement from an undisclosed airport.

She turned to the smiling girl standing next to her who was wearing an identical Navy pilot uniform and mentioned, “Look, this is Captain Brenda Patterson…she’s not just my role model…she’s my mother.

“From the first day I took my first flying lesson, it was my dream to fly with my mom, and today that dream came true,” to applause as mother and daughter drag their luggage across the terminal toward the plane.

The video shows the latest collection of pictures of Van Howe and her mom.

“She raised me to be the woman I am today and I am very proud to call her my mother,” she mentioned. “I am very happy to share the experience with you.”
