37-year-old Oshawa man charged after 72-year-old woman dies of assault in Oshawa
At around 11.20pm on June 24, Durham Regional Police officers were summoned to a Bermuda Court community property in response to complaints about a dispute that had occurred there. The argument had taken place between two individuals. After the attack that left an elderly woman dead, Oshawa police arrested and charged a 37-year-old man with her murder. The incident occurred during the assault.
Police found the 72-year-old woman with “serious injuries”. She had been in a car accident. The injuries sustained by the woman ultimately led to her death on July 1, as reported by police. It has been determined that the woman in question is Linda Carter and that she is 72 years old. Police statements indicate a 37-year-old Oshawa man has been charged with second degree murder and has been held pending a bail hearing.

The suspect has been in custody since officers made their statements. Police confirmed in an email they provided to Global News that the accused is the victim’s son. Confirmation came in the form of an email. According to the police, the suspect and the victim know each other. For this reason, there is no reason for the general public to be concerned about public safety. Anyone who thinks they have information should contact the police or Crime Stoppers as soon as possible.
