35-year-old British holidaymaker dies after falling from balcony at Ibiza holiday resort

A British holidaymaker has died after falling from a balcony at the Ibiza party resort of San Antonio, in the latest tragedy to hit the holiday hotspot.

The 35-year-old man died at the scene early this morning. The alarm was raised just after 3:15 a.m., but emergency workers rushed to the scene and said the man was dead on arrival.

Local authorities, according to police sources, are investigating whether the person was on the second-floor balcony when he walked over the fire.

The first 999 name that got here indicated he was a fake under a block of flats close to a UK grocery store and a short walk from the seafront and standard seaside golf facilities.

Witnesses reportedly told police and medics who arrived at the scene that the person jumped from the second-floor balcony.

Some reviews describe the structure he crashed from as a cabin, although it is an apartment building that is under construction for vacationers.

The first 999 call that came through said the person was a fake downstairs under a block of flats near a British grocery store.

The holiday resort of San Antonio (Sant Antoni de Portmany) has seen various tragedies involving holidaymakers in recent months.

The location where the person was found may be very close to San Antonio’s well-known O Beach Club, a celebrity bar co-owned by Gary Lineker’s brother Wayne.

A spokesman for the emergency coordination center run by the regional authorities said: “We were alerted at 3.17am this morning.

“The first reports were that a man was lying unconscious on the street.

“He was already dead when the first ambulance arrived and there was nothing they could do to save him.”

After confirming the dead man as a 35-year-old Briton, a Civil Guard spokesman said: “At this stage it is too early to say what happened.

“The investigation is ongoing.”

The location where the man was discovered is very close to the famous O Beach Club in San Antonio, popular with footballers and celebrities and co-owned by Gary Lineker’s brother Wayne.

San Antonio, or Sant Antoni de Portmany, is known for its nightlife and is a popular destination for British holidaymakers.

It comes less than two weeks after a 22-year-old British holidaymaker died at a similar resort after jumping from a three-star lodge.

Amateur footballer John McKenna, from Carlisle in Cumbria, was pronounced dead at the scene after determined efforts by paramedics to avoid wasting his life.

His friend and former Carlisle United player Josh Dixon, taking a moment to reflect, said: “It’s absolutely heartbreaking to write this. One of my best friends throughout school.

Everywhere you go, you make someone smile. Will be greatly missed by all of us. Rest in peace great man.’

John McKenna, 22, from Carlisle, Cumbria, died after a fall on June 23 in San Antonio, Ibiza.

Another friend, Ollie Doyle, said of his mate, who was often referred to as ‘Big John’: ‘A real gentleman and the nicest guy ever.

‘Never take the smile off his face, one of the best. Rest in peace great man.’

Electrician John, who was staying at the Azuline Hotel Llevant at the site of the tragedy, was performing at Carlisle City’s Sunday League Premier League side Scotby FC.

The membership tweeted after investigating John’s death: “Today we misplaced a legend, a great member, yet honestly a superior man.

In another similar tragedy, a 24-year-old British girl died last September after falling from a balcony at the Rosamar Hotel in Cala de Bou, just a quick drive from San Antonio.

Shortly after the tragedy, she was named Robin-Eva Mains, from Wallasey, Merseyside.

Paying tribute to her daughter at the time, mum Claire Mains said: “Our beautiful 24-year-old daughter has sadly died after falling 30ft from her balcony. We are at a loss for words. We are truly heartbroken.
